How will this work?
Open reach Community Fibre scheme (CFS)
Signup so we know who is interested, this data then goes to open reach (the people from BT that provide the cables) they will then look at the price to provide fibre to all that want it, they part fund it, the council part fund it and we have the option to fund the gap, if we want too... until we know the interest we don't know the cost - until they confirm the cost there IS NO COMMITMENT TO TAKE ANY SERVICE OR PAY ANY FEES
What If the CFS is too expensive? Option B?
Jan 2018 onward
We have an opportunity as a community to look at other options, Option B is Wireless, a WiSP is setup to send high speed internet to all the properties in a line of site to an access point, this has some limitation but is far better (and possibly cheaper) than the next best option it could enable people to drop their landlines using VoIP technologies too.
If we work together is there an option C?
Mid 2018 onward
If we work as a community we could roll our own fibre - this would be an amazing community opportunity and would put us at the cutting edge of rural broadband with the possibility of 1000mb connections to EVERY home and a network that is owned by the community, look at www.b4rn.org.uk for an example of what can be done.
Valley Broadband now
If you are here you are probably one of the 1.4 million or more people that can't get reliable access to a usable broadband service. Working together we can change this.
